One of my most vivid memories of moving to Singapore when I was 7-years-old is the moment when I found out that Halloween didn’t exist there. Sure, we got to dress up at school and always had some sort of class party to mark the date, but unless you lived in a predominantly American apartment building, there was NO trick-or-treating.
I’m not kidding.
It was perhaps one of the saddest parts of my childhood because, after the age of 7, I missed out on all of those magical nights where my mom’s rules went out the window and I was allowed to stay up late and eat more sugar in one sitting than I was normally allowed in an entire month.
So I guess it’s no surprise to hear that Halloween became one of my favorite days of the entire year after I moved back to the western hemisphere. And now that my daughter is old enough to understand the concept of Halloween, I’m forever on the hunt for new Halloween activities for kids the 2 of us can do together in the weeks leading up to the big event.
We’ve been gifted some great Halloween games over the years, like Boooo-opoly, Halloween Spot It!, and Halloween Bingo, but since this is our first Halloween in a house and we have a ton of space to play with, I’ve been scouring Pinterest for bigger and better ideas to get us into the trick-or-treating spirit.
